Young at Heart

Young At Heart was organized to provide fellowship and opportunities for outings for our members who are age 50 and over. Our goal is to try to have one activity each week. We travel together in groups so as to provide transportation for those who may be unable to drive or are uncomfortable driving long distances alone.

The group plans events and outings. At each get-together we discuss with the group any ideas or suggestions they might have for activities in the months to come. We also try to keep those in the group informed of the needs of any who might not be there or might not be able to attend.

Activities range from trips to local restaurants to day-trips to historical places of interest in Arizona and surrounding areas. Some months we just have potluck luncheons in our fellowship hall. We have had cookouts. We also have enjoyed game nights in member’s homes when everyone just brought snacks.

With weekly donations this year from our group, we have provided food for special outreach occasions, for families with a loved one who is ill. When someone losses a loved one, we provide and serve a meal at the time of the Memorial Service. We have a card ministry that sends, Birthday, Anniversary, Sympathy, Missing-You and Get-well cards and YAH recently purchased storage cabinets that were needed for one of our classrooms.
